Spectre

Inky black with ominous creaks

Slithers of moonlight scattered in streaks

A silvery moon with an eerie glow

Leaves the darkened room cast in shadow

Ripples of cloud in silky strands

Forms an illusion of insipid hands

An apparition, pale and thin

Brushes my hand and prickles my skin

Fear holds me tightly in its clutches

Leaving me susceptible to inhuman touches

Like molten lava, panic rises inside

As I sense the presence, still unidentified

I stare in the mirror, anticipating my reflection

Yet all that looks back is a ghostly projection

Eyes like saucers, round and black

Makes me question the sanity of an insomniac

Dark and soulless, they leave me transfixed

Luring me towards the darkness I’m amidst

It draws me in, like the tide to the ocean

So I let it take me, in one swift motion

Nice poem. It’s like evil spirits come to get me. I will just get up and pray.
