Whether you’re looking for a romantic spot for date night or a casual catch up with friends, there’s tonnes of delicious restaurants in Auckland to choose from – and many of them with an incredible view! Keep reading for my top five, in no particular order.
1. Orbit, Sky Tower
For a special dining experience you won’t forget, look no further than Orbit. Perched on level 52 of the Sky Tower, Orbit offers 360-degree views over the entire city and fully rotates once an hour. Enjoy your time in the sky with their delicious kiwi-inspired menu and extensive list of elaborate cocktails (I recommend the Pornstar Martini to finish)!
2. Harbourside Ocean Bar & Grill, Viaduct
Tucked away in the upstairs of the Ferry Terminal, Harbourside is an elegant restaurant that showcases sustainably caught seafood and premium meat. The combination of delicious food and views overlooking Auckland’s waterfront makes Harbourside a great choice for an evening out. To eat, I highly recommend the pan fried Market Fish with a fresh Tomato Salad on the side.
3. Ahi, Commercial Bay
Offering stunning views over downtown Auckland, Ahi is a relatively new restaurant that speaks authentically to Aotearoa, and this is reflected in both the cooking methods and flavours. The menu celebrates some of New Zealand’s finest produce and organic vegetables, grown from their very own kitchen garden in Patumahoe, south of Auckland!
4. Mudbrick, Waiheke
Feel like getting out of the city for a little weekend getaway? Hop on a ferry over to Waiheke Island and you’ll find Mudbrick, a delicious restaurant with incredible views looking back over Auckland. Sit out on the terrace and enjoy a gourmet meal while looking out to the picturesque backdrop. Afterwards, take a tour around the vineyard and indulge in a little wine tasting!
5. Saint Alice, Viaduct
In the heart of downtown Auckland is Saint Alice, a vibrant restaurant with views overlooking the Viaduct Harbour. It’s menu is designed to share, making it the perfect place to have a meal with friends, or a cheeky cocktail. The relaxed, casual vibe makes Saint Alice a popular place to hang out at on the weekends or on a fun Friday night, thanks to their live music and DJ.
