Espresso martinis at the Viaduct

Thanks to an obsession with espresso martinis lasting longer than I care to admit, I’m the girl to ask for best recommendations around Auckland city! Whether you’re looking for one with freshly made coffee to get your toe tapping or a sweet treat after dinner, keep reading to find out my top six spots all around Auckland.

1. Kingi, Britomart

Delicious and rich, the espresso martini at Kingi is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Britomart. Fresh espresso combined with coffee liqueur makes for the perfect sweet treat after dinner, or if you’re in the area and need a little pick-me-up!

2. Ahi, Commercial Bay

Located upstairs in Commercial Bay, Ahi is a relatively new restaurant with views overlooking downtown Auckland and the harbour. Feeling thirsty? Their espresso martini, made with fresh espresso topped with grated chocolate, is not to be missed!

3. The Merchant, Albany

After a different take on the classic espresso martini? This caramel flavoured beauty at The Merchant is a must-try for martini lovers keen to mix it up! This delicious cocktail consists of Finlandia vodka, Kahlúa, espresso and caramel syrup – so good you’ll want to have another (and another…).

4. The Sugar Club, Sky Tower

Perched up on level 53 with stunning views over the entire city, The Sugar Club is a must-see if you’re looking for a luxurious experience you won’t forget! Enhance your time in the sky with one of their decadent espresso martinis, made with fresh espresso and a signature cinnamon garnish.

5. Porch Bar & Eatery, St Heliers

Finish a fun day at the beach by stopping in at Porch Bar & Eatery for a sweet treat! Here you will find a delicious espresso martini made with fresh espresso, Belvedere vodka and coffee liqueur with grated chocolate on top.

6. Takapuna Bar, Takapuna

After a cheap and cheerful that won’t break the bank? Takapuna Bar is a great local spot and their espresso martinis are seriously underrated. Made with fresh coffee (on the strong side, you’ve been warned) and either traditional coffee beans or cocoa powder on top, this is a great pick-me-up that will keep you buzzing for the rest of the day!

Oooo! They all seem delicious, but the problem for me is espresso in the evening is not something I can do, but a morning martini is frowned upon. :-O
