With nowhere to run and nowhere to hide
I wonder when I’ll get off this ride
Round and round, my merry-go-round
Spins quietly, without a sound
Figures and shapes begin to blur
Morphing and blending as they transfer
Faces among them, staring at me
One of them holding a skeleton key
As I tilt my head to catch the stars
My fingers clutch the metal bars
Gazing at me with a sense of hope
They hand to me a piece of rope
Clutching it tight, I grab ahold;
This is my chance to escape the cold
The merry-go-round starts to slow
As I leave behind my vertigo
